01/13/12--09:07: Mjölk (chan 1543135)

I have been a big fan of the Toronto shop Mjölk (owned by John Baker and Juli Daoust) and their blog Kitka for a long time (I've featured them in blog favourites posts many times in the past). Every so often I preuse their online shop to see what incredible new items they have in stock. If you dig Scandinavian, you'll certainly dig their shop. Here are my latest favourites.

01/21/12--11:23: why he though this was a good idea... (chan 1543135)

I think this is the first time I've seen Felix up on the dining table. He only made it up there because I was in the process of vaccuuming and a chair was pulled out. That basket is Phoebe's. Mimin has one on the other side of the table next to my laptop. Phoebe is almost too big for it and she's HALF the size of Felix (or less). Why a 22 lb cat thought curling up in that basket was a good idea is beyond me.

02/04/12--12:37: my new toy (chan 1543135)

I have been thinking about getting a compact camera lately to keep on hand at work for outfit posts for blog #2 (closetrivalry.com), and to keep in my purse when I'm out running errands or out for dinner. I broke down today and got one that came highly recommended from a couple of guys at Henry's (camera store). It's the Fujifilm X10. It's retro looking which was high on my wishlist, and it's semi-pro which is great because at $599, it better come out with some pretty decent freaking photos. I am super excited to get started learning how to use the damn thing, so I leave you with a couple photos from my iPhone (hopefully my last).

Canadian Salvaged Timber is a reclaimed wood wholesaler and design shop in downtown Toronto. I am such a huge fan of anything having to do with reclaimed lumber that I got all excited when I came across these guys, particularly when I saw the furniture they have created from their beautiful wood. O M G

02/22/12--15:54: A birthday dinner (chan 1543135)

Yesterday was my husband's birthday, so we went to dinner at a restaurant I've been wanting to try for ages - The Wellington Gastropub. My co-worker Erik raves about this place and my parents were there recently and also had lots of good things to say. It was fantastic! The vibe is casual which I prefer, the service was great and the food was to die for. (See what I wore here).









Loved the fairly simple and short menu.



I had a couple glasses of Malbec. One of my favourite reds. 



Jeff had a double rye and ginger, and tried an IPA beer (I think it was Muskoka 'Mad Tom'). It was the oddest tasting beer I've ever tried. Very "perfumey" if that makes sense. After the initial shock of the taste I think I actually really liked it. I don't think I would have it with food though as I found it very overpowering. 



Jeff's starter - beet, frisée and fig salad. 



My starter - roasted sunchoke soup with chipotle-lime sour cream and vanilla oil.



Jeff's main - Angus reserve ribeye with cheddar-mustard mash, mushrooms and béarnaise sauce.



My main - sea scallops with cauliflower purée, chile bok choi and warm smoked ham vinaigrette.



Jeff's dessert - milk chocolate pot de creme



My dessert - 3 scoops of ice cream (peanut butter, cinammon, and apple crisp) with a shortbread cookie. (soooooo good)
